Hull KR prop forward Sam Luckley says living out his “boyhood dream” of playing at St James’ Park never loses its magic as he gears up for his third Magic Weekend appearance.
Super League’s flagship event returns to Newcastle this weekend, with six matches scheduled across Saturday and Sunday.
North Shields native Luckley, who has already played in two Magic Weekends with Salford, describes the experience of stepping out at the home of his beloved Newcastle United as “mesmerising.”
“I’m absolutely buzzing,” said the 27-year-old in an interview with PA news agency. “I’ve played here twice before, and it’s always a mesmerising experience.
“I love coming back to this stadium — it’s a huge occasion for my friends and family too. There’s always a big build-up, and while I try not to overthink it, I can’t wait to get out on the pitch.”
