 Mexico City Grand Prix Secures Contract Extension Through 2028


Mexico City Grand Prix Extended Through 2028 Amid Continued Support

Mexico City will remain a fixture on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2028 after agreeing to a new three-year contract extension.

The deal brings clarity following uncertainty over the race’s future, which had been called into question after Mexican driver Sergio Pérez lost his seat with Red Bull at the end of last season.

The Grand Prix continues to receive strong backing from both the Mexican government—at national and local levels—and the business community. Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, a former mayor of the capital, along with the current mayor of Mexico City, are both vocal supporters of the event.

Prominent businessman Carlos Slim Domit, one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, has also played a key role in securing the race’s future.

Held at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the event has been known for its passionate fanbase since returning to the F1 schedule in 2015 after a 22-year hiatus.
