Not Cunha or Delap: Sports News 24 Confirms 'Concrete Talks' Between Utd and 64 G/A Tornado

Sports News 24 reports that Manchester United has held "concrete talks" with a 64 G/A "tornado," ruling out players like Cunha and Delap as potential targets.

Although Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap remain at the top of Manchester United’s summer shortlist, other potential targets are also being quietly pursued behind the scenes.

Many Manchester United fans had accepted the likelihood of missing out on Viktor Gyökeres, given his ambition to play in the Champions League next season—something the Red Devils could only offer if they win the Europa League on May 21.

However, with a two-legged semi-final ahead and a potential final against either Tottenham Hotspur or Bodø/Glimt, United are certainly among the top favorites to secure the trophy for the second time in their history, while also earning a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Why Gyökeres is Set to Be One of the Most In-Demand Stars This Summer

A quick glance at Sporting Lisbon’s star man makes it clear why he's dominating headlines ahead of the transfer window.

Viktor Gyökeres has delivered a staggering 52 goals and 12 assists in just 48 appearances, cementing his status as one of the most lethal centre-forwards in world football. With several top clubs on the hunt for an elite No.9, the 2024/25 season is likely to end with a flurry of offers coming his way.

Who else is in the race for Gyokeres?

When it comes to potential destinations for the 26-year-old, some of Europe’s biggest clubs are circling. Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain—and of course, Manchester United—are all reportedly interested in securing his signature.

While Premier League-proven striker Liam Delap is believed to be INEOS’ preferred option to compete with Rasmus Højlund for the No.9 role, United haven’t given up on Gyökeres just yet.

According to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, there is currently "no agreement" between the player and United, but "concrete talks" have taken place. Sporting manager Rúben Amorim is also said to be "very keen" on a reunion.

Gyökeres thrived under Amorim at Sporting, racking up 66 goals and 19 assists in just 68 appearances—an extraordinary return.
